Best Software for New Roofing Companies (2026): Top 8

12 min read

If you are starting a roofing company in 2026, I would put it on QuoteIQ, and you should know up front that I co-founded QuoteIQ and run my own exterior cleaning business on it. That makes this ranking one contractor's honest position, with the conflict stated, not a verdict from a bystander. For a new roofer with one helper, QuoteIQ gets you from measuring to e-signed estimate to paid invoice for $99.99 a month, and the other seven options below are worth knowing about when your situation differs. I priced every one of them on its standard monthly plan on October 15, 2026.

If you are still deciding whether to launch, my guide to starting a roofing company covers the business side. This post covers the software. Already running a crew? Read my roundup of the best software for small roofing companies instead.

TL;DR

  • QuoteIQ is my pick for most new roofers: $29.99 to start, and $99.99 for two users with e-signatures, Google Calendar Sync and MapMeasure Pro.

  • Roofr is the roofing-first choice: a free Starter plan, with measurement reports at $19 each.

  • Joist is the cheapest paid way to send professional estimates and invoices, from $10 a month.

  • Jobber and Housecall Pro are general field service tools that suit scheduling-heavy work, from $49 and $79 a month.

  • RoofSnap is built for measuring and estimating, at $105 a month on its monthly plan.

  • JobNimbus and AccuLynx are built for established roofing shops and publish no prices.

How I Picked These

I weighted what matters in the first year of a roofing company: what it costs at one or two users, whether the chain from estimate to signature to payment is included at the entry price, whether it can measure a roof, and whether I can see the price without talking to a salesperson. Competitor numbers come from each vendor's own published pricing page, standard monthly rate rather than annual discounts, checked October 15, 2026. I run my own exterior cleaning business on QuoteIQ. I have not run a roofing crew on the other seven, so what I say about them comes from their published pricing and feature pages. The market is big and crowded, which is why price discipline matters early: IBISWorld figures reported by ConsumerAffairs put the US at 96,474 roofing contractor businesses in 2023. The BLS counts 166,900 roofer jobs in 2025.

1. QuoteIQ — Best Overall for New Roofing Companies

What it is

QuoteIQ is the field service app and CRM I co-founded and use in my own business. For roofers it covers MapMeasure Pro satellite measuring, good, better and best shingle estimates, branded proposals, e-signature on the homeowner's phone, and invoices that take card, ACH and Apple or Google Pay, with deposits. QuoteIQ Cam keeps job photos in the same record, and the roofing page lays out the rest.

"Great just starting a business and this is a great tool." — Dustin Thomas (Google Play review)

Pricing

On the QuoteIQ pricing page, checked October 15, 2026: Essentials $29.99 (1 user), Beginner $99.99 (2 users), Pro $199.99 (4 users), Elite $299.99 (10 users) and Max $699.99 (20 users). Extra users are $25 a month on every plan, and every plan has a 14-day free trial. For an owner plus one helper, Beginner is where I would start, because e-signatures, Google Calendar Sync and MapMeasure Pro begin there. Job costing starts at Pro and inventory at Elite.

Where it fits

Owner-operators and crews of two to four who want one app for the whole run from measuring to getting paid, and do not want to commit to a roofing-only contract in year one. See a demo to check it against how you quote.

Tradeoffs

QuoteIQ is not roofing-only software. Its roofing page names no dedicated insurance-supplement or material-list tool, so a storm shop chasing claims should look at JobNimbus or AccuLynx. Roof pitch needs an AI AutoMeasure trace at 100 IQ Credits per surface, and QuoteIQ says aerial measurements are estimates to confirm on site. Essentials has no e-signatures.

2. Roofr — Best Roofing-First Start

What it is

Roofr is a roofing-specific platform built around measurement reports, proposals and job boards. Its Starter plan is free and includes unlimited users, so a new roofer can start measuring and sending proposals before paying a subscription.

Pricing

On the Roofr pricing page, checked October 15, 2026: Starter $0, Essentials $249 a month and Scale $349 a month. Measurement reports cost $19 each on Starter and $13 each on paid plans. Essentials adds unlimited proposals, invoices and work orders, card and ACH payments and unlimited e-signatures. Scale adds crew management, job costs and a QuickBooks integration. Roofr also moved existing customers to new plans in 2026, so confirm the current plan names.

Where it fits

A new roofer who wants roofing-native measuring and proposals and will start with only a few jobs a month, which is exactly the volume where a free plan makes sense.

Tradeoffs

Starter includes only 10 trial proposals, invoices and work orders. The plan with unlimited documents, payments and e-signatures is $249 a month, which is more than double QuoteIQ's Beginner plan. Measurement reports are billed separately on every plan, so a busy month adds cost on top of the subscription.

3. Joist — Cheapest Way to Send Estimates and Invoices

What it is

Joist is an estimate and invoice app for contractors in general, not roofers specifically. It turns estimates into invoices and takes online payments from the first plan up.

Pricing

On the Joist pricing page, checked October 15, 2026: Basics $10 a month (5 documents a month), Pro $17 (unlimited documents and clients, photos and work orders), Elite $32 (change orders, reports, license and insurance) and Run at a $100 list price, shown at an introductory $70 (job organization and visit scheduling). The free plan is gone, replaced by a 14-day free trial.

Where it fits

A one-person roofer doing repairs and small jobs who needs a professional estimate and a payment link, and nothing more.

Tradeoffs

The pricing page lists no roof measuring. Scheduling arrives only at the Run plan, and the page does not say which plans include e-signatures. Past a few jobs a week you will outgrow the bottom tiers quickly.

4. Jobber — Best General Field Service Pick for Scheduling

What it is

Jobber is a general home-service platform with online booking, scheduling, professional quotes and invoices with online payments. It is not roofing-specific.

Pricing

On the Jobber pricing page, checked October 15, 2026, monthly with no commitment: Core $49 (1 user), Connect $139, Grow $199 and Plus $499, with extra users at $29 a month each and a 14-day free trial. Annual and one-year commitments cost less. QuickBooks sync starts at Connect and job costing at Grow.

Where it fits

A solo roofer who values scheduling, client reminders and automated quote follow-ups over roofing measurement.

Tradeoffs

Core covers one user, and job costing only arrives at the $199 Grow plan, where QuoteIQ's Pro plan at $199.99 includes it with four users. The pricing page lists no roof measuring, so you would pair Jobber with a separate measurement source.

5. Housecall Pro — Best for Growing an Office

What it is

Housecall Pro is a general home-service platform with scheduling and dispatch, estimates, invoicing, payments and consumer financing, a price book and job costing on every plan.

Pricing

On the Housecall Pro pricing page, checked October 15, 2026, monthly billing: Basic $79 (1 user), Essentials $189 (5 users) and Max $329 (8 users, then $35 a month per extra user). Annual billing lowers each by $20, $40 and $30. There is a 14-day free trial. Employee GPS tracking starts at Essentials and the sales proposal tool at Max.

Where it fits

A roofer who expects to add a dispatcher or office manager within the first year and wants routing and GPS built in.

Tradeoffs

Basic is a single user. The proposal tool sits on the $329 Max plan, and roof measuring does not appear on the plan list, so it is built for service dispatch more than for estimating roofs.

6. RoofSnap — Best for Measuring and Estimating

What it is

RoofSnap calls itself a cloud-based platform designed for residential roofing contractors, with aerial measurements, a Snap Estimator, proposals and contracts, digital signatures and payments, all available on mobile.

Pricing

On RoofSnap's subscription pricing page, checked October 15, 2026: a monthly plan at $105 a month billed monthly, including unlimited DIY measurements and 5 HD imagery credits per user each month. Extra users are $105 a month each. Annual plans run $1,872 (Starter, 2 seats), $3,660 (Pro, 5 seats) and $6,240 (Enterprise, 10 seats) a year. RoofSnap advertises a 14-day free trial.

Where it fits

A new roofer who spends most of the week measuring and writing estimates, on a single seat.

Tradeoffs

Seats cost $105 each, so a growing crew gets expensive fast. The annual plans are the cheaper way in, but they ask for a year of commitment before you know your volume. It is an estimating tool first, with less of the scheduling and CRM side.

7. JobNimbus — Best for Pipeline-Driven Sales Teams

What it is

JobNimbus is a board-based CRM and project management platform. Every plan includes unlimited estimates, e-signatures, invoices, a QuickBooks integration and JobNimbus Payments.

Pricing

The JobNimbus pricing page, checked October 15, 2026, shows "Request pricing" on every plan. The plans are Essentials (up to 3 users), Pro (up to 10), Premium (up to 19) and Enterprise (20 and up), and a 14-day free trial is offered.

Where it fits

A roofing company that expects to run sales reps and several projects through pipelines early, and is comfortable talking to sales to get a price.

Tradeoffs

You cannot budget for it from the page. Essentials caps you at 3 project boards, 10 automations a month and 2 integrations, the sort of limits a shop trips over just as it starts growing.

8. AccuLynx — Best for Established Insurance and Retail Roofers

What it is

AccuLynx calls itself all-in-one roofing software, covering lead management, estimating with measurement data, supplier ordering with ABC Supply, SRS and QXO, production scheduling, payments and a mobile app. It names EagleView as a measurement integration.

Pricing

AccuLynx does not publish prices. Its pricing request page, checked October 15, 2026, sends you to a form, and the calls to action are "See Demo," "Get Pricing" and "Talk to Sales." The site describes a per-license monthly subscription with no contracts, and it mentions no trial.

Where it fits

A roofing company focused on residential insurance restoration and retail roofing that is ready to commit to a roofing-only system. AccuLynx says it serves startups of about three users up to multi-location operations.

Tradeoffs

No public price and no trial means you commit time to a demo before you learn the cost. My read is that it is more system than a first-year, one-truck roofer needs.

What Operators Say

I want to be straight about these two. The reviews do not name a trade, so read them as startup feedback on QuoteIQ, not as roofer endorsements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best software for a new roofing company in 2026?

For most new roofers I recommend QuoteIQ, and I say that as its co-founder. At $99.99 a month for two users, its Beginner plan includes MapMeasure Pro satellite measuring, e-signatures, Google Calendar Sync, invoicing and a CRM, so one app covers the run from measuring a roof to collecting payment. If you want a roofing-only tool and a free start, Roofr's Starter plan costs $0 and charges $19 per measurement report. If you only need estimates and invoices on a tight budget, Joist starts at $10 a month. Match the tool to how many jobs you quote in a week, then pick the plan that covers one or two users.

How much does roofing software cost for a startup roofing company?

Expect $10 to $110 a month for a one- or two-person startup, depending on what you need. Joist starts at $10 a month, Jobber's Core plan is $49 and Housecall Pro's Basic plan is $79, each for one user. QuoteIQ is $29.99 for Essentials and $99.99 for Beginner with two users, plus $25 a month for each extra user. RoofSnap's monthly plan is $105 a month. JobNimbus and AccuLynx publish no prices, so you have to ask for a quote. These figures come from each vendor's own pricing page, checked October 15, 2026, and they change, so confirm before you buy. Look at what each price includes, too: QuoteIQ's Beginner plan includes e-signatures and measuring, while Joist's Basics tier caps you at five documents a month.

Do I need roofing-specific software when I start a roofing company?

You do not need it on day one, but you need a way to measure, quote and get paid. Roofing-specific tools such as Roofr, RoofSnap and AccuLynx are built around measurement reports, material ordering and production boards. General tools such as QuoteIQ, Jobber, Housecall Pro and Joist cover quoting, scheduling and invoicing for any trade. In the first year the volume is low, so a general tool with a roof measuring feature is usually enough, and you can switch to a roofing-only system once storm work or crews of ten or more make it worthwhile. Ask each vendor whether you can export your customer list before you commit.

What software does a roofing company need in its first year?

Four things matter most. First, a way to measure roofs and price them quickly, either through satellite measuring or paid reports. Second, estimates and proposals that the homeowner can sign on a phone. Third, invoicing with deposits and card or ACH payments, so you are not chasing checks. Fourth, a calendar and a customer list, so a callback in six months does not fall through. Job costing, inventory and crew management can wait until you have crews to manage. On QuoteIQ, job costing starts at the Pro plan and inventory at Elite, which is a sensible order of operations. See my roofing estimating software roundup for tools built around the estimate.

Is there free roofing software for a new roofing contractor?

Yes, with limits. Roofr's Starter plan is free with unlimited users, but it includes only 10 trial proposals, invoices and work orders, and measurement reports are $19 each. Joist no longer has a free plan and offers a 14-day free trial instead. Jobber, Housecall Pro, JobNimbus and QuoteIQ all offer a 14-day free trial. A free plan or trial is a good way to quote your first few jobs, but check what happens at the limit, because a cap on documents or a trial that ends mid-season can cost you a job. Pick based on the plan you will actually need. If you are quoting more than a handful of jobs a month, a paid plan usually costs less than the time you lose to workarounds, and QuoteIQ's $29.99 Essentials plan is the lowest-cost way I know to keep estimates, scheduling and invoices in one place.

How many roofing companies are there in the US?

The ConsumerAffairs roofing industry report, citing IBISWorld, counts 96,474 roofing contractor businesses in 2023, up 3.7% from 2022, with industry revenue of $50.6 billion. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 166,900 roofer jobs in 2025, projects 5 percent growth from 2025 to 2035, and reports a median pay of $55,440 a year as of May 2025. ConsumerAffairs adds that the three largest companies hold less than 5% of the market share. That is a crowded field of small operators competing for the same homeowners, which is the reason I would keep fixed costs low early and add tools only as the work demands them.

How many new businesses survive, and what does that mean for roofers?

The BLS reports that 79.6 percent of US private-sector establishments were still operating after one year and 50.6 percent after five. Those figures cover all industries, not roofing alone, so treat them as a general benchmark. The practical lesson is to control fixed costs in year one. Software that costs $100 or less a month for two users is easy to carry through a slow winter, while a $250 to $350 plan is a bigger bet before the pipeline is full. Month-to-month billing also lets you stop if the season goes cold. Annual plans save money, and Jobber and Housecall Pro both discount annual billing, but they ask you to pay for a year before you know your volume. You can find the BLS survival data on its site.

How do I measure a roof for an estimate without climbing it?

Use satellite or aerial measuring, then confirm on site before you order materials. QuoteIQ's MapMeasure Pro lets you click points around the roof on a satellite map and fills the estimate quantity from the area, starting on the Beginner plan. Roofr and RoofSnap sell or include aerial measurement reports, with Roofr at $19 per report on Starter and $13 on paid plans. Aerial measurements are estimates, and pitch, waste and complex roofs still need a check, so treat the number as a starting point for your quote. Once you have the area, build the quote with good, better and best options to give the homeowner a choice. My proposal software roundup for roofing contractors covers how to present those options.

Bottom Line

If you are starting a roofing company, buy the tool that gets you from a measured roof to a paid invoice with the fewest apps and the fewest surprises on the bill. For most new roofers that is QuoteIQ on the Beginner plan, and that is my honest call as the person who helped build it. Roofr is the right answer if you want roofing-only tools and a free start, Joist if you need nothing but estimates and invoices, and JobNimbus or AccuLynx if you are already running a storm or insurance operation. Book a QuoteIQ demo and quote one real job in it before you decide.
