Best Call Tracking Software for Plumbing Companies (2026)
I run my own pressure cleaning business on QuoteIQ and I'm its co-founder, so I'll be upfront about where I land: QuoteIQ is the call tracking software I'd start most plumbing companies on in 2026. It puts the call, its lead source, the customer record, the job and the invoice in one place, from $29.99 a month. It does not give each ad its own tracking number or offer dynamic number insertion, so if you spend heavily on Google Ads, the dedicated trackers below do that one job better. Here is the full ranked list, with prices I checked in October 2026.
TL;DR
QuoteIQ is the best overall, from $29.99 a month: the call, its lead source, the job and the invoice on one customer record. No per-ad tracking numbers.
CallRail is the pick for ad-level tracking numbers and dynamic number insertion, with Lead Tracking listed at $50 a month.
ServiceTitan suits large shops already on it, where campaign numbers tie to job revenue. Quote only.
Workiz (quote only) and Housecall Pro (add-on, no posted price) build call tracking into field service software.
CallTrackingMetrics, WhatConverts and Avidtrak are dedicated trackers at $79, $30 and $15 a month.
How I Picked These Call Tracking Tools
I run my own business on QuoteIQ and co-founded it, so I judged these tools by what matters to a plumbing company: which marketing source made the phone ring, whether the call connects to the customer and the job, whether calls are recorded, and what it costs at the size of a small shop. I haven't run the seven competing tools on my own jobs. What I say about them comes from their pricing pages and help articles, and I note where a page is dated or contradicts itself. Prices are pulled from each vendor's published pricing page, checked October 2026, and are the standard monthly figure the vendor shows. Where a page doesn't label a price as monthly or annual, or hides it behind a sales call, I say so instead of guessing. This ranking is for plumbing owners who want to know which calls turn into paid jobs, not for agencies running dozens of client accounts.

1. QuoteIQ — Best Overall for Plumbing Companies
What it is
QuoteIQ is the field service CRM I co-founded and run my own business on. The Virtual Call Team answers calls 24/7, records, transcribes and summarizes them, and logs each one in a searchable Call History with a hot, warm or spam label. ClientHub gives you a business number with in-app calling and texting. The client database keeps a lead source on each contact card, showing how that customer found you. Because all of it sits on the customer record next to the estimate and invoice, you can see the call that started a job, the quote and the payment in one place. Calls reach the Virtual Call Team by forwarding your existing business line or by assigning a dedicated QuoteIQ number.
Pricing
From the QuoteIQ pricing page: Essentials is $29.99 a month for one user, Beginner $99.99 for two, Pro $199.99 for four, Elite $299.99 for ten and Max $699.99 for twenty. Extra users are $25 a month on any plan, and every plan has a 14-day trial. The Virtual Call Team is on every plan and draws on IQ Credits at 125 credits per minute of AI call time. The Virtual Call Team page lists monthly allowances from 500 credits on Essentials (about four minutes) to 8,000 on Max (about 64 minutes), so confirm your plan's allowance before you route a busy line to it. In-app calling and texting through ClientHub starts at Pro.
Where it fits
Plumbing companies that want to know who called, what they asked for and whether the call became paid work, without stitching together a phone tool, a CRM and an invoicing app. I cover the answering side in my AI phone answering roundup for plumbers and the customer messaging side in my client communication app roundup. To see it on a real workflow, book a QuoteIQ demo.
Tradeoffs
QuoteIQ's pages don't describe a separate tracking number per ad campaign, dynamic number insertion or keyword-level call attribution, so I won't claim them. You can filter customers by lead source, and the client database page shows per-customer figures such as lifetime value, conversion rate and average job value, but it doesn't describe a report of revenue by source. The ClientHub page doesn't mention recording calls on your own business line; recording is documented for the Virtual Call Team. AI call minutes are metered in IQ Credits, so a very busy line may need more of them. If ads drive most of your calls, run CallRail or WhatConverts next to QuoteIQ.
Best way to do business extremely quick and helpful thank you guys for helping me save time and make more money!!!!! — Jay Bagramian (Google Play review)
2. CallRail — Best for Ad-Level Call Tracking
What it is
CallRail is the dedicated call tracking tool most marketers and agencies know. You can create a tracking number for a specific online campaign, and its JavaScript snippet swaps the number on your website. CallRail's guide to dynamic number insertion says the feature assigns a unique phone number to each online source, so you can see which campaign or keyword produced a call. The pricing page lists call recording and routing, transcription and automation rules on the entry plan.
Pricing
Lead Tracking shows $50 a month with five local numbers and 250 local minutes. Lead Tracking Complete is $95, Lead Conversion $150 and Lead Conversion Complete $195, all from the CallRail pricing page. The page has a Yearly and Monthly toggle and says you can save up to 10% with a yearly plan, but it doesn't label which figures are on screen, so confirm the monthly price at checkout. The trial is 14 days.
Where it fits
Plumbers buying Google Ads, Local Services or Yelp traffic who need to see which ad rang the phone, plus an office person who listens to recorded calls. CallRail's own roundup of call tracking tools is a vendor's view, but it quotes the $50 starting price.
Tradeoffs
It is a separate subscription and doesn't run your jobs or invoices. The pricing page lists no user counts, doesn't say which plans include dynamic number insertion and repeats some plan tables with different figures, so confirm details before you buy.
3. ServiceTitan — Best for Large Shops Already on ServiceTitan
What it is
ServiceTitan builds call tracking into the system that holds the customer, the job and the invoice. Its help center says Phones (Basic) uses virtual tracking numbers that forward to your office lines, records incoming calls and ties each tracking number to a marketing campaign. The Marketing Pro article recommends giving each campaign its own number so you can track the revenue it produces. Phones Pro is a cloud phone system that connects calls to jobs.
Pricing
Quote only. The ServiceTitan pricing page names Starter, Essentials and The Works, says pricing is per technician, and shows a Request Pricing button on each package with no dollar figures. Marketing Pro and Phones Pro list no prices either.
Where it fits
Plumbing companies with dispatchers, dedicated call takers and a real advertising budget that already run on ServiceTitan, where tying a campaign's number to job revenue is the whole point. Its plumbing software page shows the wider platform.
Tradeoffs
There is no published price, so you can't size the cost before a sales conversation. Numbers you enter manually don't track revenue, the Marketing Pro article describes revenue only at the campaign level, and it names no required plan, so ask what each phone and marketing add-on costs.
4. Workiz — Best for a Phone System With Ad Tracking
What it is
Workiz bundles the phone system with the field service software. Its call tracking guide has you give each ad group its own Workiz Phone number, so booked jobs, conversion rate and revenue sync to the matching ad source. The Workiz Phone article lists call flows with greetings, voicemail, queues and voice menus, plus call masking that can record calls and store them on the job or client page. The plumbing page mentions ad source analysis and integrations with Thumbtack, Angi and Google Local Services Ads.
Pricing
Quote only. The Workiz pricing page lists Standard, Pro and Ultimate with Request pricing buttons and says annual plans save "$400+". Its comparison table marks the phone system, call insights and ad tracking as included on all three plans, but labels Genius Phone as sold separately without a price, so ask exactly what the phone add-ons cost.
Where it fits
Plumbers who want one app for dispatch, the business phone line and an ad-source report, and who are fine taking a quote instead of a posted price.
Tradeoffs
Prices sit behind a sales request. The call tracking article is dated July 2025 and the Workiz Phone article October 2023, so features may have moved; confirm in a demo.
5. CallTrackingMetrics — Best for Deep Call Analytics
What it is
CallTrackingMetrics now lives at ctm.com and covers the full call tracking basics. Its call tracking page explains that dynamic number insertion uses a short line of code to switch the number on your website to match the visitor's source, and that you can see which campaigns, ads and keywords prompted a call. Conversation Intelligence adds call recordings and transcriptions, and there is a dedicated Google call tracking page.
Pricing
The plans and pricing page shows Marketing Lite at $79 a month billed monthly, Marketing Pro at $179 and Sales Engage at $329, all with unlimited users. Yearly billing drops those to $65, $149 and $274. Enterprise is listed at $1,999, but the page contradicts itself on its billing terms. Transcription is $0.02 a minute, with 3,000 transcribed minutes per sub-account included on Pro and Sales Engage, and encrypted call recordings are $0.004 a minute. Local number pricing is volume-based and not published.
Where it fits
Shops with a marketing manager or agency that wants keyword-level reports, recordings and call scoring and doesn't mind usage fees.
Tradeoffs
It has the highest entry price of the dedicated trackers here, usage fees on top, and local number rates that aren't published. It doesn't run your jobs or invoices.
6. WhatConverts — Best for Tracking Calls, Forms and Chats
What it is
WhatConverts tracks phone calls and also web forms and chats, which matters if your customers book through a contact form as well as the phone. Its call tracking numbers page says the software swaps your number with tracking numbers and that the entry plan includes call transcripts, recordings and location data. The Plus plan adds PPC campaign and keyword tracking and connects to Google Ads and Bing.
Pricing
The WhatConverts pricing page lists Call Tracking at $30 a month, Plus at $60, Pro at $100 and Elite at $160 for single accounts, and its pricing guide describes one flat monthly fee per plan. Each single-account plan includes up to 148 phone call leads and a $30 usage credit. Extra local numbers are $2.50 each, extra local minutes 4.5 cents and transcription 2 cents a minute. Agency plans start at $500.
Where it fits
Plumbing companies that get leads from forms and chat as well as calls and want one lead report, and anyone managing several brands.
Tradeoffs
Usage charges add up, the page doesn't state how many tracking numbers or minutes each plan includes, and the cheapest plan tracks calls only. Like CallRail, it sits outside your job and invoice records. WhatConverts also has a help article titled Understand WhatConverts Pricing, which is worth reading before you commit.
7. Housecall Pro — Best for Shops Already on Housecall Pro
What it is
Housecall Pro sells call tracking as an add-on. Its setup article walks you through Settings, Inbox, Phone Numbers: you pick a lead source, a destination and an area code, then add the new number to your advertising source. A second article says the tracking number forwards calls to the destination you choose and covers Google Business Profile, Facebook, HomeAdvisor, Angi, Yelp and Thumbtack.
Pricing
The Housecall Pro pricing page lists Basic at $79 for one user, Essentials at $189 for five and Max at $329 for eight, with extra Max users at $35 and lower annual-billing rates ($59, $149 and $299) beside them. The higher figures aren't labeled monthly on the page, so confirm at checkout. The help article calls call tracking an add-on and gives no price, and the pricing page doesn't list call tracking at all.
Where it fits
Plumbers already running Housecall Pro who want a lead source tied to each number on their listings. My Housecall Pro vs QuoteIQ comparison covers the rest of the platform.
Tradeoffs
The add-on price is unpublished, call tracking isn't on the pricing page, and recording is covered in separate Voice settings rather than the tracking article. The articles describe a lead source per tracking number; they don't describe dynamic number insertion or keyword-level reports.
8. Avidtrak — Best Low-Cost Tracking Numbers
What it is
Avidtrak is a smaller dedicated call tracker with its own plumbing call tracking page. You can assign tracking numbers to campaigns, locations, landing pages and offline sources such as direct mail or flyers, use dynamic number insertion to connect website calls with source, campaign, keyword and page, and record calls with AI transcripts. Its call tracking overview lists integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho and Google Analytics 4.
Pricing
The Avidtrak pricing page lists Starter at $15 a month (5 local numbers, 500 minutes), Professional at $30 (10 numbers, 1,500 minutes) and Agency at $55 (30 numbers, 2,500 minutes), each labeled Monthly. Overage is $2.00 per extra local number and $0.07 a minute on Starter. The trial is 14 days with $20 in credit.
Where it fits
A small plumbing shop with a few ad sources, direct mail or flyers that wants the cheapest way to give each one its own number.
Tradeoffs
There are no field service features, so calls don't attach to jobs or invoices without an integration. The pricing grid doesn't make clear which plans include dynamic number insertion, and it lists no user counts.
What Operators Say
The three reviews on this page, one above and two here, come from QuoteIQ's Google Play reviews. None of the reviewers is listed as a plumber in my review database, and none writes about call tracking, so read them as feedback on the app overall.
Just used the app for the first time, It is very easy to navigate has great options and I would highly recommend for everyone! — Donald Plant (Google Play review)
I just loaded the app and so far it has been very simple to navigate through. — Wesley Steinburg (Google Play review)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best call tracking software for plumbing companies in 2026?
QuoteIQ is my pick for most plumbing companies because the call, its lead source, the customer record, the job and the invoice live in one app from $29.99 a month. Its Virtual Call Team records and summarizes calls, and every contact carries a lead source. What it does not do is give each ad its own tracking number, so plumbers who buy a lot of Google Ads should add a dedicated tracker such as CallRail, which lists Lead Tracking at $50 a month, or WhatConverts from $30. Large shops already on ServiceTitan can use its Marketing Pro numbers. Pick by where your calls come from. I co-founded QuoteIQ, so weigh my ranking with that in mind.
How much does call tracking software cost for plumbers?
Dedicated trackers start low: Avidtrak lists $15 a month, WhatConverts $30, CallRail $50 and CallTrackingMetrics $79 billed monthly, and each charges extra for numbers, minutes or transcription beyond the plan. QuoteIQ starts at $29.99 and includes lead sources and customer records. Workiz and ServiceTitan are quote only, and Housecall Pro sells call tracking as an add-on with no posted price. Budget for the listed entry price plus usage, and ask any vendor for a written quote before you move your numbers. The listed prices run from $15 to $79 a month, so the real cost difference comes from usage fees and whether you also need a separate CRM.
How does call tracking work for a plumbing company?
Call tracking gives each marketing source its own phone number, and every call to that number is logged with the source, the time, the length and often a recording. The calls forward to your real phone, so customers never notice, and most tools record them so you can hear what the customer asked for. CallRail describes dynamic number insertion as assigning a unique phone number to each online source, so your website shows one number to a Google Ads visitor and another to a Yelp visitor. Flyers, truck lettering and listings get fixed numbers. Then you compare sources by calls and booked jobs, which is what Workiz reports for each number.
Do I need dynamic number insertion for my plumbing website?
Only if your site gets meaningful traffic and you want to know which keyword or campaign produced each call. CallTrackingMetrics says it uses a short line of code to switch the number on your site to match the visitor's source, and Avidtrak and WhatConverts offer it too, though Avidtrak's pricing grid doesn't confirm which plans include it. If most of your calls come from your Google Business Profile, referrals or truck lettering, fixed tracking numbers are enough, and a lead source on each customer record covers the rest. Dynamic insertion also needs a short snippet of code on your site, so check who will install it before you buy.
How many calls do plumbing and other home service companies miss?
CallRail's 2025 benchmark report, built on 1.1 million leads, found home services miss 14% of calls, against 32% for healthcare, 28% for legal and 9% for real estate, and says up to 85% of customers whose calls go unanswered won't call back, per its BusinessWire release. CallRail sells call tracking, so read it as vendor data. Tracking tells you where calls come from; it doesn't answer them. A few missed calls a week add up quickly at plumbing job values, so answering comes before attribution. The fix is picking up every call, and my missed call text back roundup for plumbers covers it. Treat the figures as a benchmark, not a forecast for your shop.
Can call tracking software show which source brings in paying plumbing jobs?
Only if the tool sees your jobs. Dedicated trackers such as CallRail report calls and, on higher plans, conversion tagging, but revenue lives in your field service software. ServiceTitan ties a campaign's number to revenue inside its own system, and Workiz syncs booked jobs and revenue to each ad source. QuoteIQ stores a lead source on each customer so you can filter by it, but its client database page describes no revenue-by-source report. That filter is useful for repeat and referral work, but it is a filter, not a campaign report. Ask any vendor to show that report on your own data before you pay.
Is call tracking worth it for a small plumbing company?
It pays when you spend on more than one lead source and can't tell which works. IBISWorld puts US plumbers at $208.1 billion in 2026 revenue across 129,000 businesses, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics counts about 510,600 plumber, pipefitter and steamfitter jobs, up 7% from 2025 to 2035, so callers have plenty of shops to choose from. If your work is mostly repeat and referral, start with a plumbing CRM that logs lead sources, and add a dedicated tracker once ad spend grows. Either way, the cheapest first step is to write down where each new customer says they heard about you, then compare that with the calls your phone logs.
How do I start a QuoteIQ trial for my plumbing company?
Pick a plan on the QuoteIQ pricing page and start the 14-day trial; a credit or debit card is required to start. You can turn on the Virtual Call Team on any plan, add a ClientHub business number on Pro and above, and set up your lead sources before the trial ends. Do the setup in the first week so the trial shows you real calls. Plans run from $29.99 for one user to $699.99 for twenty, and extra users are $25 a month on every plan. Check your plan's monthly IQ Credits first, since AI call minutes draw on them. If you want a walkthrough, book a QuoteIQ demo, which shows how the call, the lead source and the job connect on one customer record.
Bottom Line
Most plumbers don't need an enterprise attribution stack. They need to know who called, whether the call got answered and whether it turned into paid work, and that is why I rank QuoteIQ first: the call, the lead source, the quote and the invoice live together from $29.99 a month. If a large share of your spend is paid ads, run CallRail or WhatConverts alongside it and let that tool handle the tracking numbers. Book a QuoteIQ demo to see it on a real workflow, then check it against the prices above.
